Novo Nordisk announced its ambitious goal of ensuring all its direct suppliers conduct company business based on 100% renewable power by 2030. In February 2020, the company's supply chain accounted for 80% of their total CO2 emissions. In light of its ultimate sustainability goal of becoming a fully circular company, Novo Nordisk closely observes its suppliers across the entire value chain.

In his presentation, Morten Storgaard will share Novo Nordisk’s approach and methodologies of collaborating with suppliers to reduce CO2 emissions, with explicit focus on renewable power usage. Specifically, Morten will share some of the company’s policies and practices enabling its procurement divisions to:

• Embed renewable power as a sourcing criterion for choosing suppliers
  
• Prioritize selection of suppliers meeting the company’s requirements for renewable energy
  
• Convince the company’s existing suppliers to convert to renewable power
